2. Scope

This privacy policy applies to the Hit Quiz mobile app (bundle ID / package: com.engineproductions.hitquiz) and this website at https://hit-quiz.com, which is used solely for information and marketing purposes.

This website does not use tracking cookies and does not collect personal data through forms. Server log files from the host may technically contain IP addresses and access timestamps (see section 10).

3. Overview of app features

Hit Quiz is a music quiz based on live streams. The app includes:

• Player profile with display name
• Music quiz rounds (artist, title, year) across different channels
• Bonus and filler games, leaderboards and achievements
• Push notifications (optional)
• In-app purchases for premium channels
• Feedback and contact features
• Account deletion in app settings

Data is processed on your device and on our servers to operate these features. Third-party services are also used (see section 8).

4. Data we process

4.1 Player profile and app usage

• Display name: chosen by you during initial setup; shown in the app, on leaderboards and in game activity.
• User ID: a system-assigned identifier linking your profile, game progress and settings.
• Game and quiz data: e.g. guesses, round scores, leaderboard entries, channel selection, achievement progress.
• Device and app metadata: e.g. platform (iOS/Android), app version, language setting – for error analysis, compatibility and localized content.

4.2 Local storage on device

Certain data (e.g. user ID, display name, onboarding status, last channel, notification settings) is stored encrypted or securely on your device so you can use the app without signing in again.

4.3 Push notifications

If you enable push notifications, we process:

• FCM device token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications
• Your preferences for push, in-game reminders and marketing/channel updates
• Usage activity (e.g. last app use) to control reminder messages

You can disable push notifications at any time in app settings or revoke them in your device system settings.

4.4 Feedback and contact

When you send feedback through the app, we process your message and optional contact details (name, email). Technical metadata (e.g. app version, platform) may be included for handling.

4.5 In-app purchases

Purchases and subscriptions for premium channels are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive full payment data (e.g. credit card numbers), only information about purchased products and entitlements to unlock content.

4.6 Audio streams

Live streams from I Love Music are played during the game. The app does not record audio and does not store listening habits beyond what is required for the quiz.

5. Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data for the following purposes:

• Providing the app and contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): game operation, storing scores and profiles, unlocking purchased content
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): push notifications (especially marketing and reminder messages) where you enable them
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): app stability and security, abuse prevention, anonymized or pseudonymized usage analysis, responding to inquiries
• Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), where applicable

6. Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging)

The app uses Google Firebase services via native SDKs on your device:

• Firebase Analytics: pseudonymized usage statistics (e.g. app launches, onboarding, selected events) to improve the app
• Firebase Crashlytics: crash and error reports for troubleshooting; may include device and app context data
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): delivery of push messages

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (or Google LLC, USA within the corporate group). Data may be transferred to third countries. Google provides appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Other third-party providers

• Apple App Store / Google Play: distribution, payment processing and purchase restore where applicable
• RevenueCat (or similar subscription management): management of in-app purchase entitlements for premium channels where used

• Apple Game Center / Google Play Games: optional for achievements where supported by the platform and used by you

These providers process data on their own responsibility or as processors under their respective privacy policies.

8. Retention period

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the stated purposes or as required by statutory retention periods.

• Player profile and game progress: for the duration of active use
• Push token: until deactivation, sign-out or account deletion
• Feedback: until processing is complete, at most within customary operational periods
• Analytics/crash data: according to Firebase service retention periods

9. Account deletion and your rights

In app settings you can use “Delete account”. This removes your local app data and blocks or deletes your account on our servers; leaderboard entries are handled accordingly.

Under the GDPR you have in particular the following rights:

• Access to your stored data
• Rectification of inaccurate data
• Erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
• Restriction of processing
• Data portability
• Objection to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdrawal of consent with future effect

10. This website (hit-quiz.com)

When you visit this website, technically necessary server log data may be generated by the hosting provider (e.g. IP address, date/time, requested URL, user agent). This data is processed solely to ensure operation and defend against attacks and is deleted after customary operational periods.

This marketing website does not use analytics cookies or social media plugins.

11. Changes

We may update this privacy policy when app features or legal requirements change. The current version is available at /legal.
